What To Do Your Junior Year
1. Review your transcripts with your counselor

SAT (see testing dates)
3. Attend
college fairs and information sessions

7. Start applying for scholarships
8. Visit colleges during your spring break
9. Attend pre-college summer programs
10. Make note of application deadlines
11. Retake the ACT or SAT if needed

What To Do Your Senior Year
AUGUST:
1.
Meet with
your guidance counselor to discuss colleges you are considering and review
admission requirements for each of them.
2.
Check
your Senior Year Curriculum. Are you meeting the admission requirements for the
schools in which you are most interested?
3.
Are your
college entrance exam scores adequate for admission? If not, sign up for the
ACT or SAT tests scheduled for October.
SEPTEMBER:
1.
Continue
your search for scholarships.
2.
Write
your personal essay.
3.
Attend
college fairs.
OCTOBER:
1.
Take
college entrance tests again if needed.
2.
Apply for
the college Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend at CollegeInColorado.org - Home�
3.
Talk to
your counselor about waivers for application fees.
NOVEMBER:
1.
Apply for
admission to your top three colleges of choice. Make sure that the application
you send to each institution is complete.
2.
Start to
apply for scholarships. Meet all deadlines and make sure all materials that are
requested are included (i.e., personal statement/essay, ACT/SAT scores, etc.).
DECEMBER:
1.
Watch the
mail for admission decisions or requests for additional information. Reply to
requests for additional information promptly.
2.
Continue
applying for scholarships.
3.
Request a
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Pin Number at www.pin.ed.gov
JANUARY:
1.
Submit
your taxes, and remind your parents to do it too!
2.
When you
receive your FAFSA Pin Number proceed to complete the online FAFSA form.
3.
Apply for
Financial Aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or
applied online at www.fafsa.ed.gov .�
4.
Continue
watching the mail for admissions decisions.
FEBRUARY
- APRIL:
1.
Consider
offers from colleges.
2.
Continue
applying for scholarships
3.
If you
are still undecided about which college to attend, you should make arrangements
to visit your top choices once more.
MAY:
1.
Confirm
your college choice.
2.
Send in
admission deposit.
3.
Send in housing
application and fee if applicable.
4.
Finalize financial
aid & return award letters.
